What "If" ??
Soul in His Eyes by Christine London
4 1/2 Stars
What if you wrote a letter to a famous person and the letter actually reached that person? What if the letter sparked a friendship that transcended distance? What if that friendship turned into something more? Christine London's Soul in the Eyes explores, in a sweet, touching, feel-good way, these "ifs".
Christine Rose lives a happy life. She has two children, a husband that loves her and a fulfilling teaching job. Moved by a force that she can't explain, she writes a letter to famous actor Erik Bartholomew.
To the world, Erik lives a perfect famous life: success, money and adoring fans. But in his private life, he's lonely and disconnected. When he received Christine's letter, he immediately feels a connection towards her words and pictures.
A letter exchange between the two sparks a friendship and feelings that neither expected. Suddenly Christine's life takes a tragic turn. Through the friendship vine, Erik learns of this, but he's stuck in Iceland making a movie. The race to get to Christine begins, but what will happen when he reaches her? Here is where the fantasy begins.
Christine London writes a sweet story of following the heart. She encourages, through her characters, a leap of faith even when it looks too-good-to-be-true. Christine and Erik are strong and self-assured, and together find the trust needed to open the door of friendship and love. In addition, she gives each character strong, supportive friends that take on the super-role of rescuers when needed.
This book left me with the feeling that anything is possible if you just take a chance. It's a message that inspires action, because you just never know what may happen "if".
